CASE IH GRAND ISLAND PLANT EXPANDING

The Case IH facility in Grand Island, Neb., where Case IH Axial-Flow® combines are manufactured, will soon produce the next generation of Case IH windrowers, along with headers for the windrowers.

WD 3 Series windrower production begins in late September, headers in October

RACINE, Wis. - The Case IH facility in Grand Island, Neb., where Case IH Axial-Flow® combines are manufactured, will soon produce the next generation of Case IH windrowers, along with headers for the windrowers.

"The Grand Island plant is already known as the Case IH Center of Excellence for grain harvesting. This expanded production capability will allow the plant to more effectively meet growers' needs for productive, reliable hay harvesting equipment," says Steve Lee, plant manager at the Grand Island facility. "The plant is strategically located adjacent to some of the largest hay growing areas in North America, and utilizes the latest manufacturing technologies."

A recently completed building expansion project added 104,800 square feet to the facility to accommodate windrower and header production.

"Right now we're in the process of setting up assembly lines and welding stations in the new area," Lee adds. "Over the next three weeks, we'll produce pilot units, followed by windrower production. That's the first phase.

"During the second phase, we'll begin manufacturing the headers that go with the windrowers," Lee continues. "That will begin in October. Later this year, we'll also add a paint system to the facility."

Lee says the company already has added more than 60 employees for the windrower production, and another 25 to 30 employees will be coming onboard in October for header manufacturing. "They'll be joining a group of the most experienced, highly-trained, quality-focused employees in the industry," he adds. "A number of our employees participate in their local family farm operations or come from farm backgrounds, so they have an excellent understanding of their customers' needs for quality and reliability."

After extensive training, these dedicated employees will be producing the new Case IH WD 3 Series windrowers, as well as a full line of sickle and disc headers. The WD 3 Series windrowers are engineered to handle the heaviest crops in the toughest terrain, while the cab provides revolutionary comfort and convenience for the operator. In fact, it's the same type of high-visibility cab used on Case IH Axial-Flow 7010 and 8010 combines currently manufactured at the Grand Island plant.
