RACINE, Wis. – Maintaining its support for young producers who show leadership in agriculture, Case IH awarded nine new Farmall® tractors to the runners-up of the 2014 American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Young Farmer & Rancher awards. One of those tractors, a Farmall 45A,  will go to Chuck Yoest and his wife, Jennifer Hatcher, of College Grove, Tenn., for being finalists for the Excellence in Agriculture award.

The winners, announced at the AFBF’s 95th Annual Meeting Jan. 12-15 in San Antonio, Texas, were selected for having an extensive agriculture background, possessing leadership skills and being advocates for their agricultural values.

“Case IH is proud to support these outstanding individuals as they continue to pursue a future in agriculture,” says Zach Hetterick, Case IH Livestock Marketing Manager. “At Case IH we strive to provide the tools and resources to help these young producers develop a strong foundation for their future.”

Yoest and Hatcher’s involvement in agriculture is largely based on their family’s dairy operation, Hatcher Family Dairy. They are a farm-to-table operation, as they produce their own milk, have a bottling facility and distribute the milk to about 40 vendors in their area, including farmers markets, grocery stores and restaurants. They also have a store, Hatcher Family Dairy Store, where they sell their milk and offer farm tours of their facilities. Along with the dairy operation, they raise beef and lamb. Aside from farming, Yoest is a wildlife biologist and Hatcher is a large-animal veterinarian, with her practice located on their farm.

“We are involved with Farm Bureau because it plays a significant role in both agriculture and wildlife management, which are both big parts of our careers and lives,” says Yoest. “Farm Bureau has taught me leadership, deepened my knowledge of agriculture and provided me with insight about grass roots organizations like our own.”

Yoest and Hatcher ordered their Case IH Farmall 45A from their local Case IH dealer, Brothers Implement Co., Inc. in Hillsboro, Tenn., and they can’t wait to get the tractor on their farm. They mentioned that the size and versatility of the tractor will be perfect for the various tasks necessary for maintaining their grounds, and for farm tours.

“It is just incredible to me that Case IH is willing to support the Young Farmers & Ranchers program with this unbelievable contribution,” says Yoest. “It is a huge incentive for participation in the contests, and we are deeply humbled and appreciative of this gift.”

Yoest and Hatcher first got involved with Farm Bureau when they started the Young Farmers & Ranchers program in their county after it had been inactive for nearly 20 years. Since then, Yoest has served as a chairman at both the county and district levels, and he and his wife have been very active in the various state events.

The couple is also very involved in their church and various agriculture boards. Hatcher invites vet students to her clinic to observe her work, and Yoest mentors students from his home-town high school. They also raise livestock for area 4-H programs.
