RACINE, Wis. – Maintaining its support for young producers who show leadership in the agriculture industry, Case IH awarded nine new Farmall® tractors to the runners-up of the 2014 American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Young Farmers & Ranchers awards. One of those tractors, a Farmall 55A, will go to Chris Pollack of Ripon, Wis., for being a finalist for the Discussion Meet event.

The winners, announced at the AFBF 95th Annual Meeting Jan. 12-15 in San Antonio, Texas, were selected for their knowledge of agricultural topics, ability to discuss these topics with others and public speaking skills.

“Case IH is proud to support these outstanding individuals as they continue to pursue a future in the agriculture industry,” says Zach Hetterick, Case IH Livestock Marketing Manager. “At Case IH, we strive to provide the tools and resources to help young producers develop a strong foundation for their future.”

Pollack currently operates his family’s farm alongside his parents. They milk about 150 cows, farm 650 acres and have heifer and calf facilities.

“I have gained many connections with farmers across the state through Farm Bureau,” says Pollack. “I really enjoy the political aspect of the grassroots organization, because it is important that farmers make their voices heard.”

Pollack ordered his Case IH Farmall 55A from local Case IH dealer Service Motor Company and said he can’t wait to add it to the other red equipment on his farm. He plans to use the utility tractor for hauling wagons and raking hay.

“This is an awfully impressive contribution for Case IH to make to the Young Farmers & Ranchers program,” says Pollack. “It’s admirable that they make this kind of investment in the participants.”

Pollack first joined Farm Bureau when he was 21 years old. He is currently chair of his county’s Young Farmers & Ranchers program and is part of Volunteers for Agriculture, which is Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s political action committee.

Outside of Farm Bureau, Pollack coaches the county 4-H dairy judging team and participates in various FFA alumni activities.
