The brawny Farmall 50 compact tractor from Case IH is driven to succeed by a rugged, trustworthy, four-cylinder diesel engine that keeps the power and performance high while the operating and maintenance costs stay low. This 2.2-L (135.2-CID) powerplant has a rated 2,800 rpm engine speed. And like all Farmall compact tractors, it’s B5 approved – biodiesel ready.

Standard shift transmissions, available on every model but the Farmall® 35, give the operator full control to select the speed that's perfect for the job at hand. It's the tough, reliable gearbox selection. Standard gear transmission or hydrostatic; there's an ideal choice to shift your Farmall into maximum productivity.

9x3 Sliding Gear Transmission
Simplicity, durability, functionality – these are the watchwords for the 9 x 3 sliding gear transmission that is available on the Farmall 31. This fully manual transmission gives the operator full control over gear ratios with a sturdy, proven design that delivers both solid performance and great value.

12 x 12 Synchronized Shuttle Transmission
For operators who need optimum control for loader work or other repetitive tasks, a 12 x 12 synchronized shuttle transmission is available on the Farmall 40, 45 and 50. Offering smooth, responsive operation, this high-performance transmission allows maximum control over engine rpms and ground speed.

Hydrostatic Transmission
The Farmall hydrostatic transmission is available on the Farmall 31, 35, 40 and 45 models. It makes operating a tractor simple as never before – just use the foot pedals for forward/reverse operation. On the Farmall 40 and 45, the hydrostatic transmission offers a HI/LO Powershift that allows the operator to upshift or downshift on the go. Plus, push-button cruise control makes it easier to mow large areas quickly.

CVT - Continuously Variable Transmission
You’ll work with greater comfort and control than ever before in these new 40- to 50-hp Farmall compact tractors. It starts with the new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The CVT is designed to provide smooth, seamless speed changes through varying conditions. The controls for the transmission are unique, featuring a single pedal to control both travel speed and engine speed. Just press the single pedal and go – the transmission automatically adjusts to deliver the desired speed and match load conditions.

Every Farmall® compact tractor features a heavy-duty three-point hitch to handle the heavy lifting of rear-mounted implements, including snow blowers, tillers and rear rotary cutters. Included is a crank-operated leveling adjustment to make it quick and easy for one person to hook up to attachments. Extra features on the three-point hitch include:

Farmall compact tractors also feature PTO and hydraulics that allow maximum work from a compact machine, and make using attachments a snap.

Hydraulics System

A high-capacity hydraulic system provides the level of power and response that makes you productive on every project. The system ensures plenty of hydraulic flow to the remote valves. That means Farmall compact tractors can handle backhoes, loaders and other hydraulically driven attachments without requiring an auxiliary pump

Farmall Compact Tractors' PTO

All Case IH Farmall compact tractors feature a 540-rpm rear PTO to power implements and attachments. In addition, a 2,000-rpm mid PTO is standard on Farmall 31 and 35 models with automatic transmission. The mid PTO available as an option on Farmall 31 models equipped with manual transmissions, and on Farmall 40 and 45 compact tractors with automatic transmissions.

Farmall® compact tractors are designed for comfortable, easy operation. The open deck and step-through platform offers plenty of floor space, while the adjustable, contoured seat and infinitely tilting and telescoping steering wheel on deluxe models let you find your own fit.

The instrument panel features analog gauges, warning lights that are simple to read and within plain view, and fender-mounted controls which are easy to reach and use. The standard foldable ROPS temporarily lowers to make it easy to work inside barns or buildings.

Platform Options

Choosing an optional joystick puts the control of loader functions and many front-mounted attachments in the palm of your hand. A deluxe controller (available on Farmall 40 and 45 models) also includes a HI/LO hydraulic speed selection on the joystick for convenient transmission control while using a loader. An optional FOPS canopy offers added overhead protection when lifting bales and other loads, while the optional sunshade blocks glare and heat, and the optional soft cab keeps out wind and weather.

Factory-Installed Cab

Comfort is no luxury: When maximizing productivity means long hours on the tractor, or working conditions are not favorable, avoiding operator fatigue means maximizing each day's work. Available factory-installed cabs for the Farmall 40 and 45 include left-hand and right-hand steps and two wide-opening doors, windshield wiper and washer, plus front and rear work lights. The cab also features air conditioning and heat, deluxe seat, interior and exterior mirrors, cup holder, 12-volt power outlet, radio-ready wiring, and integral toolbox built right in.

Designed from the ground up for durability and simplicity, Farmall® compact tractors require minimal maintenance and feature simple serviceability. That makes them a reliable choice for anyone – from a homeowner to a fleet operator. Service points are conveniently located. You can check engine oil without opening the hood or removing side panels. You can even add engine oil without using a funnel.

Simple Service Access

Service is designed to be simple and straightforward. Case IH Farmall compact tractors make all regular service points easy to access. Simply flip up the tilt-open hood for full access to the engine, the radiator and the air cleaner. And a convenient dipstick at the rear of the tractor makes it easy to check the fluid levels for the transmission, rear axle and hydraulic system.
