Bundaberg CNH Industrial dealership looks to new opportunities in South Burnett region of Queensland

07 Dec 2022

CNH Industrial machinery dealership Cheshire Machinery is rounding out the year with an announcement that starts a brand new chapter for the Bundaberg-based business.

Based in Bundaberg, Queensland, the business is preparing to open in a new location after acquiring South Burnett Machinery in Murgon, with the doors of the re-branded business opening yesterday, December 5.

Cheshire Machinery is both a Case IH and New Holland machinery dealer, and after the purchase of South Burnett Machinery, a New Holland dealer, they'll be adding Case IH agricultural machinery to the Murgon location as well.

Cheshire Machinery came into existence in May 2021 after Ross and wife Donna purchased the former Bundaberg Case IH dealer McDonald Murphy Machinery. Dealer principal Ross Cheshire said it was another exciting expansion opportunity for the company and an opportunity for his team to share their knowledge, experience and passion for the industry with a new customer base.

"Service and support has always been the top priority for our team and we're proud to be taking over this long-standing Murgon business, which has been in the same family for two generations. I'd like to thank the previous owners, Bruce and Veronica Sommerfeld, for their support and for trusting us, and I know they appreciate their business is passing into the hands of another family-owned operation," Ross said.

"For our business, we're looking forward to the diversification this new dealer branch will add, with more grazing, hay production and broadacre operations, as well as cotton, and we can assure existing customers that the same level of support and service they've enjoyed with South Burnett Machinery will continue under Cheshire Machinery.

"With the addition of Case IH products to the business, customers will also have access to a wider range of machinery, and all the benefits and opportunities that brings."

Pete McCann, General Manager for Case IH Australia/New Zealand, said Cheshire Machinery was a proven performer and the latest expansion would only further strengthen the Case IH brand in the region.

"It's a big moment for Ross and Donna and their dedicated team, and it's through their commitment to customers and the vast knowledge and expertise around the ranges of

machinery they sell that they've been able to take this next significant step into the highly productive agricultural region of South Burnett," he said.

Bruce Healy, General Manager New Holland Agriculture Australia/New Zealand, said the move ensured the legacy of South Burnett Machinery would continue well into the future, for the benefit of both customers and the New Holland brand.

"I wish Cheshire Machinery every success with this new venture and know their commitment to the region's agriculture and construction industries will serve customers in the South Burnett area well and help keep their businesses running as profitably and efficiently as possible," he said.
