LUGANO, Switzerland - (November 05, 2012) - Case IH is the top level sponsor of the Indonesia Sugar Congress 2012, which will be held in Jakarta on the 6th and 7th of November 2012.

The Congress is an international platform for global sugar producers, refiners, equipment manufacturers and end-users looking for investments, trades and partnerships in Indonesia. The event will see the participation of Dr Ir. H. Suswono, Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture, and other key speakers from government bodies, industry-related associations and companies. They will outline the most pressing challenges of the country's sugar industry and discuss opportunities for growth.

As Platinum Sponsor, Case IH will have a significant speaking role in the two-day event. Kenneth J. Schmidt, Case IH Product Performance Manager for sugar cane equipment, will take part in the proceedings for the "Growing Indonesian Sugar" technical session that will be held in the afternoon of November 6th.

Mr Schmidt, who draws upon almost forty years of expertise in sugar cane equipment, will offer an insight into the optimization of sugar cane harvesting performance, highlighting the benefits of mechanization and the impact of advanced cultivation methods on sugar cane farming productivity.

Indonesia is South-East Asia's biggest consumer of sugar, which is primarily dedicated to direct human needs. With around 240 million people, it is the world's fourth most populous country and is showing a growing trend in the sugar industry. The use of agricultural technologies will be fundamental in developing the sugar cane business and in meeting this country's sugar needs, thus moving Indonesia towards a greater independence from sugar imports.

Drawing from over 50 years of worldwide leadership in sugar cane technologies, Case IH is able to provide not only first-class machinery for all sugar cane operations but also qualified knowledge and a full range of services, including after-sales support, technical training, tailored financing solutions and advice on best practices to help the long term growth of its customers' business

"Sugar cane mechanization can help the industry to meet the growing market needs," commented Kenneth J. Schmidt. "It can be effectively applied to guarantee continuous operations and increased productivity with benefits in terms of safety for operators and efficient use of resources. Moreover, the adoption of the right set of machinery with appropriate cultivation methods could in turn result in increased outcome, higher yields and profitability".
