Progressive Maharashtra sugar mills upgrade their fleets of Case IH Austoft sugarcane harvesters
04 Dec 2020
Leading sugar mills in Maharashtra, India, are increasing their productivity and profitability thanks to their investment in new Case IH machinery.
While large gatherings have been avoided due to the COVID-19 pandemic, M/s Manjra Sugar, Latur and M/s Jai Hind Sugars, Solapur, both held modest functions recently to celebrate the delivery of their new sugarcane harvesters.
M/s Manjra Sugars and M/s Jai Hind Sugar are both frontrunners when it comes to investing in modern mechanized cane farming solutions and technologies.
Mr Sandeep Gupta, Case IH Business Head for Crop Solutions, is confident that the sugar mills’ investments will pay off.
“Case IH is the pioneer and market leader in India with hundreds of sugarcane harvesting machines in operation,” he said. “Case IH has been instrumental in providing mechanized solutions for sugarcane farming in India since last decade.”
“Our machines work with precision, speed and with high fuel efficiency thereby reducing the cost of harvesting which results in more profits to the farmers and more sugar output for the sugar mills.
“Each day we strive to provide unmatched quality and reliability through our world class technology and equipment to the farmers.”

Case IH Austoft 4000 Series cane harvesters, now manufactured at the company’s Pune facility, are specifically designed for Indian conditions, operating across states in a range of field conditions.
The Austoft 4000 is a compact machine designed specifically to streamline the harvesting process in sugarcane fields that use row-to-row spacing of four feet and above.
“One of its major advantages is that the machine harvests the cane flush at ground level,” Mr Gupta said. “By harvesting the bottom node, we get a better ratoon and avoid the additional operation of stubble shaving, which is carried out after manual harvesting.”
“Also, harvesting the sugar-rich bottom node of the cane means maximizing the sugar content, which results in high sugar recovery at the sugar mills.
“The latest AntiVortex™ Technology provides maximum cleaning to the harvested billet cane, which further improves processing.”
Case IH equipment can be financed through CNH Industrial Capital.
