RACINE, Wis. — Case IH Farmall® compact tractors now offer an
easy-to-use, continuously variable transmission (CVT) option for the new model
Farmall 40B CVT, 45B CVT and 50B CVT Class 3 cab tractors. A CVT option allows
Case IH Farmall customers to get more done in less time while maximizing fuel
efficiency and managing operating costs.
Because CVT automatically selects the best gear ratio for the desired speed,
the operator no longer has to select or shift gears. “It eliminates the need for
clutching or shifting, which means operators may prefer a Farmall with CVT to
their car, says Greg Lucey, Case IH Farmall Marketing Manager. “In fact, pulling
a load with a CVT-equipped Farmall is easier than driving a pickup with an
automatic transmission.”
Unlike standard transmissions, which have a distinct number of gear ratios, a
CVT has an infinite number of gear ratios, which allows the engine to always run
at its most efficient speed – regardless of ground speed. And unlike hydrostatic
transmissions that depend on speed for higher torque, a CVT is more efficient
when pulling a load.
While CVT is common in high-horsepower tractors, it is a technology not
commonly found in compact tractors. “As a full-line equipment company that
provides trusted support to its customers, Case IH is able to utilize technology
developed for larger tractors and integrate it into the Farmall line,” Lucey
explains. “When Farmall tractors were introduced in 1923, they featured a
revolutionary narrow design and higher ground clearance – and nearly 90 years
later, they continue to lead the industry in innovation.”
Known for rugged versatility, proven performance and functional design, and
powered by Tier 3-compliant diesel engines with 40, 45 and 50 engine horsepower,
the new line-up of Case IH Farmall B CVT tractors are the ultimate workhorses.
“Easily equipped with a large variety of well-matched implements, these Farmall
CVT tractors provide the right equipment for the right job – whether you’re
hauling, mowing, loading, towing or blowing,” says Lucey.
