100 Years of Harvesting Leadership

DescriptionPage

Take a glimpse into the evolution of 100 years of harvesting leadership that began in 1915 with the Deering No. 1 harvester-thresher.

The No. 36 harvester-thresher was designed to be powered by a 7- to 14-hp tractor belt pulley or stationary engine. Designed with the small-acre farm in mind, it could be configured with an optional trailer attachment so it could be transported. Photo credit: Wisconsin Historical Society

  • 1977

    1977

In 1977, International Harvester Axial-Flow combines start using a single, large-diameter rotor for the threshing and separating process. This system eliminated the cylinder, beater and straw walkers of conventional combines.
  • 1986

    1986

Introduced by Case IH in 1986, the 1600 series featured increased grain-tank capacity, larger concaves and more separating area than the 1400 series combines. Photo credit: Lee Klancher
  • 1996

    1996

A decade later in 1996, the Case IH 2100 series introduced a new cab, a more efficient hydraulic system and an increased power system. Photo credit: Rachel Wegman
  • 2009

    2009

The 9120 Axial-Flow was the industry's first class IX combine, had a 12.9-liter Iveco engine rated at 483 hp and introduced the 126-knife MagnaCut™ chopper along with other features, including optional heated red leather seats.
  • 2015

    2015

Today's Axial-Flow® 140 and 240 series combines are proven to produce the highest grain quantity and quality to meet the needs of any operation.
