John is no stranger to Case IH machines, his family have run them for decades. “We were International people, and we had the 856, an 884, a B-414, it would take too long to name them all. There’s even an old Farmall H in my shed that’s from the mid-1930’s that still runs - that’s one tractor I’ll keep when I retire!”
So far, the Maxxum 145 has been used to do some lifting around the yard as well as field work like ploughing and fertilising, and since the start of September has clocked up 160 hours of running time. “I expect to put about 300-350 hours a year on a tractor like this,” says John.
“I’m really happy with my decision to get the loader added on. It’s been really good to run, and I love the fact that you don’t have to take your hand off the loader while the gearbox is on automatic. Being able to use one control while operating makes those jobs a lot easier, and the hydraulics work great.
