Forty trainees are taking part in the 2026 program, combining technical knowledge
and practical field experience to strengthen local agricultural mechanization skills.
Mendrisio, October 12, 2026
Gaalooge Agrobusiness Enterprise, Case IH distributor in Somalia, continues to support
the development of agricultural skills in Somalia and Somaliland through its 2026
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, designed to build
local expertise and strengthen the knowledge needed to support agricultural
mechanization.
This year, the program is training 40 participants across two centers, with 20
trainees in Somalia and 20 in Somaliland. Each center has achieved an equal
gender balance, with 10 women and 10 men participating in the training.
In Mogadishu, Somalia, the training program was successfully completed in October,
with preparations now underway for the graduation ceremony planned for November.
The program has provided participants with technical training aimed at developing the
skills required to contribute to the country's evolving agricultural sector.
In Somaliland, participants have completed the theoretical phase of the program and
are now advancing to practical field training, allowing them to apply their knowledge in
real working conditions. The practical sessions will continue throughout October, ahead
of a graduation ceremony also planned for November.
The 2026 program has already achieved an important milestone beyond the
classroom. Following the introduction of the TVET initiative, Somaliland identified the
need to establish a dedicated agricultural mechanization department. The
department was subsequently established by presidential order, with newly appointed
staff joining the TVET classes to further develop their knowledge and technical
capabilities.
This development demonstrates the wider impact that technical education can have in
supporting the growth of agricultural mechanization. By combining classroom learning
with practical field experience and encouraging greater participation from both women
and men, the TVET program contributes to building local capacity and creating a
stronger foundation for the future of agriculture.
Case IH remains committed to supporting skills development and knowledge transfer
in the region, helping equip a new generation of professionals with the technical
expertise needed to support farmers, modern agricultural machinery and the continued
development of mechanized agriculture.
