Use Fieldops to Boost Harvest Management, Efficiency in the Field
With harvest comes stress. There are decisions that come at you throughout the day and night, often requiring an immediate response. And to make the most informed decisions, you need accurate, up-to-date information.
That is where FieldOps™ can help. Case IH FieldOps is your all-in-one platform that works across your entire connected fleet to provide equipment information, real-time machine monitoring, precise equipment location and duty status, estimated job completion time, and more.
During harvest, FieldOps brings its power to the forefront, giving you the ability to monitor and manage the flow of grain from the field, provide you instant equipment information to ensure machines are working at peak efficiency, as well a quick inventory of where each piece of your equipment is located.
That information is vital if you need to know exactly where the grain cart is located, whether that truck is back from the elevator or waiting in line, the fuel level on your combine, or yield information. And all this information, through FieldOps, is available on your mobile device or on your computer, remotely.
“In the middle of harvest, everything is urgent. And you are trying to stay on top of a million things all at once,” says Josh Moore, regional precision manager with Case IH. “FieldOps ultimately allows customers to easily access information, review data, and keep tabs on various activities on the farm.”
For example, let’s say you have a combine operator in a remote field while you are located back at the home farm unloading grain. Through your phone or desktop app, you can see exactly what is happening in that field, from yield information to combine settings. “You may want to adjust some of the settings, so you can see current settings and notify the operator to make adjustments,” Moore says. “And you can do that without a visit to the field. Maybe it's just to visualize what is happening in the field. Maybe it’s to troubleshoot. You can see what is happening in the cab if you are in a semi at the elevator.”
Moore says FieldOps lets producers be much more efficient with their machinery by making those critical decisions with precise information. “We use FieldOps on our home farm. I’ll get a call from my dad asking about specific settings on a piece of equipment. I’m sitting five hours away from our farm site, but I can see exactly what he is seeing on the display and help diagnose the issue.”
Instant agronomic information
Harvest is also the time where you are making decisions about next year’s crop. Want to know how a certain hybrid or variety performed? FieldOps lets you access harvest data, cross reference information with other agronomic parameters, and give you a full picture of performance.
Reports can then be created right on the app and sent to trusted advisors. “You want to send an updated yield map on a certain field to your agronomist. You can send that information right to your agronomist or crop consultant,” Moore says. “That’s a powerful decision-making tool that is completed easily from your phone.”
“There are a lot of agronomic decisions being made during harvest. That includes fall fertilizer application. Using FieldOps, I can use yield information to help make those fertility decisions. And I can do it instantly, because the data is available through FieldOps.”Be alerted when it matters
Having information at your fingertips is valuable. But FieldOps goes one step further by letting you set up custom alerts that are delivered to your phone. “There are things you may want to be alerted to but don’t want to be constantly logged on,” Moore says. “You can set up notifications through FieldOps that alerts you to any information you want. For example, you can set an alert that notifies you when a fuel level gets below a certain level. When that level is hit, you get an alert on your phone. Using that information, you can then send a fuel truck to ensure that equipment keeps running.”
Connecting the farm
Recent-model Case IH equipment already provides lifetime connectivity. But what about older equipment? Case IH offers options to let you fully connect your machinery, from older tractors to semis to ATVs. “One of the best uses for this is in grain trucks. I can set a geo fence around an elevator, so anytime the semi leaves the elevator I am notified. I then know when the semi will be back on the farm so I can ensure the grain cart is full. There are a lot of things we can do with these entry-level modems to be able to track different equipment,” Moore says.
“FieldOps is the center point for a lot of precision technology,” Moore says. “And it can be the go-to source of information when you are in the field at harvest.”
