Harvest with Ease: Improving Profits with Raven Cart Automation™
During harvest, unloading on the go keeps the operation moving faster, but it comes with some risk. Miscommunication can lead to grain loss and stress events for the grain cart and combine drivers, regardless of operator skill. That’s why Raven has developed Raven Cart Automation. Developed with efficiency and a perfectly filled grain cart in mind, this aftermarket precision technology simplifies the complex task of unloading grain on the go, offering several benefits to operators.
How Raven Cart Automation Works
Raven Cart Automation empowers operators of any skill level to efficiently run an unload on-the-go
operation with ease. By utilizing radio-based connectivity, the technology enables seamless communication
between the grain cart and combine, ensuring precise synchronization during the unloading process. Raven
Cart Automation takes multiple tasks off the operator by engaging automatic steering and propulsion,
allowing the operator only to focus on nudging the grain cart forward or backward to fill appropriately.
- Here's a breakdown of how it works:
Setting the sync point: The process begins by setting the sync point, where the grain cart operator positions the cart next to the combine while it's stationary. Once the auger aligns with the center of the grain cart, the grain cart driver presses the “Save Sync Points” button, and the sync point is saved. - Syncing the cart: The combine operator initiates the syncing process using the intuitive display interface or cart remote. The grain cart operator receives a notification and, when within range, engages auto guidance and auto propulsion.
- Synced operation: Raven Cart Automation brings the grain cart to the defined offset or sync point, allowing the combine operator to control the positioning of the grain cart using the multifunction controller.
- Nudging controls: The combine operator can adjust the position of the grain cart using fore/aft and left/right nudging features, ensuring even filling without the need to manually adjust speed or position. The combine operator can also reset their sync point using the display or cart remote or manually moving their sync positioning by commanding the grain cart to move forward at the same speed.
- Completion and disengagement: Once the grain cart is full, the combine operator dismisses the grain cart operator, who then steers to disengage cart automation and proceeds to the unloading point.
- Multi-machine coordination: For operations involving multiple machines, the combine operator can seamlessly transition between grain carts, ensuring a continuous and efficient harvest process.
Benefits of Raven Cart Automation
On top of operator peace of mind, there are several advantages of cart automation:
- Minimized grain spillage: By precisely synchronizing the grain cart with the combine, cart automation significantly reduces grain spillage during the unloading process, maximizing profits for farmers.
- Increased field efficiency: The technology minimizes slowdown events during unloading, optimizing field efficiency, saving both time and money.
- Operator stress reduction: With cart automation handling the synchronization process, operators experience reduced stress levels, enhancing overall workplace satisfaction.
- Streamlined operations: By eliminating the need for manual coordination between operators, cart automation minimizes errors and miscommunications, ensuring smooth and efficient harvest operations.
